Dr. Schroeder is a healer, educator and physician licensed in the State of Colorado with over 20 years of practice experience. He has dedicated his life to positive, creative solutions to the health care needs of each individual patient. Dr. Schroeder is an Internal Medicine Specialist extensively trained in Western Medicine highly knowledgeable and experienced in the standard medical diagnosis and implementation of treatments commonly used by an M.D. He has undergone the same training as an M.D. He is also an Integrative Medicine Specialist with years of training and experience in this field. He is also an Osteopathic Physician and as such continues to respect and utilize these powerful Osteopathic healing techniques and philosophies. Many people misunderstand that Osteopathic physicians have the exact same training as an M.D. but may elect to continue to use Osteopathic Principles.
As an Osteopathic Physician Doctor Schroeder can perform and teach you a wide variety of physical manipulations most people associate with Chiropractic treatments that have wonderful healing and pain relieving effects.
Dr. Schroeder has studied the life sciences and medicine since the age of six. Dr. Schroeder has advanced knowledge of the inner workings of the human body and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado in 1979. He was awarded the Helen Stone Robinson Pre-Clinical Fellowship at the AMC Cancer Research Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado in that same year. He has many years of experience in basic science medical research and clinical research. Dr. Schroeder has some personal understanding of the challenges facing those with complex medical issues having experienced serious illness himself and in his own family.
Dr. Schroeder was awarded the Degree of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa in 1989 graduating near the top of his medical school class. He completed his Internship at the highly respected program of Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan in 1990. His Internal Medicine Residency was completed at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan and Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington. While these educational programs were comprehensive and excellent Dr. Schroeder has learned the most from his patients where the science and art of medicine combine.
Dr. Schroeder is an “Integrative Physician” who helps you choose and use the most effective, safest and least costly treatments from a variety of medical disciplines including: Western (M.D.) Medicine, Nutritional and Herbal Medicine (Naturopathic Model), Mind-Body Medicine (Stress Modification techniques), Body Work (Osteopathic Medicine), Energy Medicine (techniques akin to Reiki) and Functional Medicine (the newer Science based Naturopathic Model). In addition to his extensive investigations into and experience with these multiple approaches Dr. Schroeder maintains relationships with and may refer you to other non-physician practitioners in M.D. Allopathic Medicine, Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic Medicine, Naturopathic Medicine, Osteopathic Medicine, Massage Therapists and Physical Therapists who excel in their fields. Dr. Schroeder graduated from the University of Arizona’s School of Medicine Associate Program in Integrative Medicine under Dr. Andrew Weil, M.D. in 2002.
